Adoption of the Community Preservation Act
Keeping the Garden City Beautiful.
Ken filed the legislation and led the effort to adopt the Community Preservation Act (CPA) in Newton and lead the effort to place the CPA adoption question on the November, 2001 ballot, then worked with other interested Newton residents to organize the campaign in favor of CPA adoption.
Once voters approved adoption, Ken worked with his colleagues on the Board of Aldermen to develop an implementation ordinance, which assured balanced representation on the Community Preservation Committee.
Through June 30, 2007, Ken's work to achieve CPA adoption in Newton has resulted in more than $11 million in state matching funds for our CIty.
