Light Pollution Ordinance

Ken wrote the Light Pollution Ordinance that protects Newton residents from bright light shining into their windows and the night sky. Newton's ordinance requires that light fixtures be designed to direct light where it is needed, saving electricity and protecting the quality of life of Newton residents.

After strong initial opposition from some Newton businesses, Ken worked closely with the Chamber of Commerce to craft legislation that enjoyed broad support. Ken's skill at building consensus in favor of new ideas will prove valuable as Mayor.
